States we serve

NCNE provides telehealth psychiatric medication management to adults in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Rhode Island, Virginia, and Kentucky. You must be physically located in one of these states during your visit — a licensing requirement, not a preference. If you travel or move, tell us before your appointment.

How a telehealth visit works

  1. Book

    Book online or send a message. We confirm your state of residence, verify insurance benefits, and send intake forms by secure link.

  2. Join your video visit

    At your appointment time, open the visit link on a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, from a private space.

  3. Evaluation and plan

    Your first visit is a comprehensive 60-minute evaluation; follow-ups are focused 20–30 minute visits for adjustments, side-effect monitoring, and refills.

  4. Prescriptions and coordination

    Prescriptions go electronically to your pharmacy. With your permission, we coordinate with your primary care team or therapist as needed.

Away at school, or new to all of this

A large share of the adults we see are in their late teens and twenties: at college in one of our states, on a parent's insurance plan, and often seeing a psychiatric prescriber for the first time. Telehealth suits that well — visits fit around classes and work, there is no clinic to get to, and nothing has to go through a campus health centre unless you want it to. Two practical points: you must be 18 or older, and you must be physically in one of the states we serve at the time of the visit, so if you split the year between home and school, tell us and we will schedule around it. If you have never had a psychiatric evaluation, here is what to expect.

Can a psychiatric nurse practitioner prescribe medication?

Yes. NCNE's clinician, Laura Gabriel, PMHNP-BC, is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who evaluates, diagnoses and prescribes psychiatric medication for adults, including medications for ADHD, anxiety and depression, within the rules of each state. She holds prescriptive authority in every state listed above.

What we do not prescribe

NCNE does not prescribe benzodiazepines or opioid-based medications, and does not treat opioid use disorder. Anxiety, panic and sleep are managed with non-habit-forming options. Where another medication carries its own telehealth rules, we explain what applies to you at the evaluation.

What telehealth is — and is not — for

Telehealth works well for psychiatric evaluations, ongoing medication management, and coordination with your care team as needed. It is not an emergency service.

How do telehealth visits work?
All NCNE visits are secure video appointments. Before your visit you receive a link; at your appointment time you join from a phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, from a private place inside a state where NCNE is licensed to see you.
Where do I need to be during my visit?
Physically located in one of the states NCNE serves at the time of the visit — that is a licensing requirement, not a preference. If you travel or move, tell us before your appointment.
Do you offer in-person appointments?
No. NCNE is 100% telehealth.
What if I have a technical problem during my visit?
Stay on the line if you can — we can usually reconnect. If the video drops entirely, we will call the phone number on file.

Is the video platform secure?
Visits take place over a secure, encrypted video platform intended for healthcare.
What do I need for a video visit?
A phone, tablet, or computer with a camera and microphone, a stable internet connection, and a private space where you can speak freely.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes, within the limits of the law. Like any healthcare provider, there are narrow exceptions — for example, an imminent risk of serious harm — which we are glad to explain at your first visit.
