Depression

Depression is more than a bad week. Low mood, loss of interest, low energy, and changes in sleep or appetite that persist can make everyday life feel heavy. You do not have to figure out the next step alone.

A calm, private space set up for a telehealth psychiatric appointment

What it can look like

  • Feeling down, empty, or hopeless most of the day, more days than not
  • Losing interest in things you used to enjoy
  • Sleeping much more or much less than usual
  • Low energy, trouble concentrating, or feeling slowed down
  • Feeling worthless or excessively guilty

These are common experiences, not a checklist for self-diagnosis. A comprehensive evaluation is how we understand what is going on for you specifically.

How NCNE can help

  • A thorough evaluation, including what has and has not helped before
  • An individualized plan built around your goals — medication where appropriate, alongside therapy and lifestyle support
  • Regular follow-up visits to track progress and fine-tune treatment
  • Coordination with your primary care team as needed, so care feels joined up

About medication

Medication is one option among several. At NCNE we believe meaningful care goes beyond writing prescriptions — a thorough evaluation, collaboration, education, and an individualized plan come first, and supplements, lifestyle changes, a referral for therapy where it would help, and coordination with your primary care team as needed are all part of the conversation are part of the conversation.

Common questions

What if I have tried medication before and it did not work?
That history matters. Part of the evaluation is reviewing past treatments — what was tried, at what dose, for how long, and what happened — so the plan builds on what you have already learned.
What if I am having thoughts of harming myself?
If you are in immediate danger, call 911. You can also call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) any time, day or night. Telehealth visits are not an emergency service.
