Conditions

Anxiety

Anxiety can show up as constant worry, physical tension, trouble sleeping, or a mind that will not slow down. When it starts to crowd out work, relationships, or rest, it is reasonable to ask whether treatment — including medication — could help.

A calm, private space set up for a telehealth psychiatric appointment

What it can look like

  • Worry that feels hard to control and shows up most days
  • Restlessness, muscle tension, or feeling keyed up
  • Trouble falling or staying asleep because your mind is racing
  • Avoiding situations because of what might go wrong
  • Panic symptoms — a racing heart, shortness of breath, dizziness

These are common experiences, not a checklist for self-diagnosis. A comprehensive evaluation is how we understand what is going on for you specifically.

How NCNE can help

  • A comprehensive evaluation to understand your symptoms, history, past treatments, and goals
  • A collaborative plan that may include medication, therapy, lifestyle changes, or a combination
  • Ongoing follow-up visits to review how you are doing, adjust doses, and monitor side effects
  • Non-habit-forming options for anxiety and sleep — NCNE does not prescribe benzodiazepines
  • Coordination with your primary care team as needed, with your permission

About medication

Medication is one option among several. At NCNE we believe meaningful care goes beyond writing prescriptions — a thorough evaluation, collaboration, education, and an individualized plan come first, and supplements, lifestyle changes, a referral for therapy where it would help, and coordination with your primary care team as needed are all part of the conversation are part of the conversation.

Common questions

Do I need therapy too?
Many adults do best with a combination of medication and therapy. At NCNE, psychotherapy is integrated into your psychiatric care based on your individual needs, alongside medication management and psychoeducation about what is happening and what helps between visits. Some people benefit from ongoing, dedicated psychotherapy beyond what fits within psychiatric treatment; when that is the case, we will discuss it with you and may recommend working with a therapist for additional support. If you already have a therapist, we can coordinate with them, with your permission, so your care stays well integrated.
How soon would I notice a difference?
It depends on the medication and the person. Some options work within hours; others take several weeks at a steady dose. We will set expectations together at your evaluation and check in at follow-up visits.

Taking the first step toward better mental health can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to navigate it alone. Contact NCNE to learn more about our services and discover how personalized psychiatric medication management can support your goals.
